The 308 GTS is a V8 mid-engined, 2-seater sports cars manufactured by the Italian company Ferrari from 1976 to 1985. The 308 was built to replace the Dino 246 GT and GTS. The 308's body was designed by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti.

The engine was a 3 litre 90 degree V8, with belt-driven twin overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. It was transversely mounted in unit with the transaxle transmission assembly, which was below and to the rear of the engine's sump. All models used a fully synchromeshed 5-speed manual and a clutch-type limited slip differential. Suspension was all-independent.

This example was produced in the last year of development, the GTS is great to drive and is a great balance between open top motoring and comfort, after driving the car many miles, the targa top give adequate protection against the weather, but still achieves that fantastic feeling of an open top sports car. The car offered here is a European Specification late 308GTS that was delivered new in Germany in the colours that it is presented in today.

Recently the car has benefitted from a pristine respray in the original colours and retains its original trim that has been economised, presented in a very nice condition. The cars runs fantastically and has been owned by myself for two years. The car has been used on many long drives and never fails to perform.

    REQUIRED INFORMATION

This lovely example retains its tan leather interior which has recently been economised. The oil press raises quickly and the car starts with ease.

The car is fresh from a cosmetic restoration and presents beautifully in black, the car retains its original cast magnesium wheel which were an option from new.

In our mind the Ferrari 308 GTS is the perfect compromise between usability and speed. The targe roof allows for long journeys, made possible without feeling the fatigue of a full open top sports car, whilst giving the same feeling.
